Final sprint to COP30: Indigenous leadership and the paths to influence
As the world prepares for COP30 in Belém, Indigenous Peoples and local communities are making waves. The largest Indigenous delegation in COP history is expected to gather in the Amazon this year, bringing a renewed focus on rights, territories, and action from the ground.
In the final GroundWork session of October, “Final Sprint to COP30”, we’ll go behind the headlines to unpack the key negotiations and political dynamics shaping this year’s climate summit — and explore how Indigenous leaders are shaping strategies and alliances ahead of Belém.
Featuring Edson Krenak (Cultural Survival, Brazil) and Basiru Isa (REPALEAC, Cameroon), this conversation will bring together perspectives from Latin America and Central Africa, reflecting on the opportunities and tensions of Brazil’s presidency and how Indigenous voices are driving a just and inclusive COP30.
