As COP30 approaches, join us for a grounding and practical conversation about what to expect from the global climate conference—and how to engage.

This online session is designed for Indigenous leaders, technical teams, youth representatives, and allies who may be new to the UN climate process, or who want to better understand how to navigate its many entry points.

With up to 5,000 Indigenous representatives expected in Belém, Brazil, COP30 offers both formal and informal platforms to share priorities, strengthen collaboration, and shape public and policy narratives.

In this session, we’ll walk through the architecture of COP—from the structure of the Blue Zone to parallel spaces like the People’s Summit and Maloca Indígena. We’ll also touch on key emerging opportunities—including the Tropical Forest Finance Facility and Pledge 2.0. The session includes a guest contribution from APIB (invited), and space for discussion and exchange among participants.

This session is part of the GroundWork series— a collective initiative by the International Climate Politics Hub (ICPH) , Food Nature Climate Dialogue (FNCD), Seeds for Change and TINTA. GroundWork briefings are designed to support Indigenous Peoples and local communities to better understand and influence international climate policy.

Since its launch in 2023, the series has reached hundreds of participants across different regions, with content developed in close partnership with grassroots networks. In 2025, GroundWork is evolving to include deeper engagement with regional organisers, Indigenous youth, and technical advisors working across territories and languages.

With simultaneous interpretation, multilingual resources, and facilitation tailored to participant priorities, the series seeks to create accessible and politically relevant spaces for learning, coordination, and movement-building.

In the lead-up to COP30, GroundWork is creating opportunities to build shared strategies, increase visibility of Indigenous-led proposals, and prepare participants to engage in key policy conversations. Join us and help shape the agenda.
